Getting people to vote has always been a challenge and one that has not been effectively met. I have friends tell me that voting is a waste of time because their vote does not mean anything. How wrong they are.
Once Republicans realized they cannot win elections based on their messages and principles, they decided to cheat. Gerrymandering districts so that they kept Republican seats secure and isolate as many Democrats as they could into districts that would number fewer than Republican districts, or they diffused Democratic votes into Republican held districts. Democrats have been much more tolerant of Republicans than the reverse. But no longer.
The Democrat’s response to the outrageous Supreme Court decisions of the past session, and the GOP state house legislative efforts to overturn the will of the voters, has now triggered a sense of emergency in a growing number of people. Traditional Republicans who have not been infected with the MAGA virus, independent voters, and Democrats are coming together.
Members of DCQC are at work getting out the vote – we are sending out tens of thousands of post cards to democrats and independents who lean left but don’t often vote.
Another group of citizens is also at work doing the same thing. They have designed a postcard and are raising money to send out tens of thousands of cards to other areas of Pima County. You can support us, or the group note below, or both of us. Make no mistake – this is as bad as it looks and needs everyone’s attention.
